Obituary from the Morrison's Cove "Herald" 30 November 1907 issue:

HENRY REFFNER.  At 12:30 o'clock Wednesday morning Henry Reffner died at the home of his daughter Mrs. John Helsel at Lafayettesville, aged 84 years, 5 months and four days.  Mr. Reffner spent most of his years in Morrison's Cove.  He was a member of the Church of God having united with the church many years ago at Hoover's bethel.  He was much interested in church work in which he took an active part, and while he could, attended services regularly.  When services at Hoover's bethel were abandoned and the building torn away his church home was lost to him, yet he remained steadfast in the faith in which he died.

Mr. Reffner suffered a long illness and was confined to his bed nearly four years, or since May 1904.  A few weeks ago he was stricken with paralysis which hastened his demise.  He was well known and esteemed in his neighborhood.  The funeral took place Friday morning, the cortege leaving the house at 10 o'clock.  Services were held in Barley Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. C. Gumbert, pastor of the Reformed church of Loysburg.  He is survived by four children:  Mrs. John Helsel and George Reffner of near Brumbaugh; Sylvester of Rodman station and Jerre of Pitcairn.

His wife preceded him to the grave fifteen years ago.  He was the father of ten children, six of them having also preceded him.  Thirty-five grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren are living.  His remains were laid to rest beside his wife in the Barley cemetery.
